Guatemala
The images of Guatemala in this section were taken within the southern volcanic province. Within this volcanic area, west and southwest of Guatemala City, there are four volcanoes. Two of the volcanoes are currently active and two are dormant. The two active volcanoes are Pacaya (2,552 m/8,373 ft), the most active, and Fuego (3763 m/12,346 ft). The two dormant volcanoes are Agua (3,760 m/12,335 ft) and Acatenango (3,975 m/13,041 ft). In the image above, Agua is in the foreground, Fuego is to the far left, where steam coming from its cone can just be see, and Acatenango is just peeking out from behind Agua's left, or southwestern, slope. Pacaya is located behind where I took this image, a couple of miles at most.
